"Machelle's approach to teaching yoga is truly inspired. In her own yoga practice and teaching she integrates her knowledge of anatomy and depth psychology in both direct and nuanced ways. I personally feel that my frequent participation in her Yin Yoga classes and workshops helps me stay healthy, flexible, and positive about life. At my age (74) this is truly a gift."

"I found Machelle's Yin Yoga class through word of mouth and was hooked. Machelle gently takes you though the theory of yin practice, talking about the relationship of the poses to your individual anatomy and to the meridians running through the body, while weaving in the philosophical aspects of yin yoga and yogic teachings. The practice was meditative, giving me valuable space to reflect and absorb everything going on in my life. I heartily recommend her class and her teaching style. She is like no other teacher I've worked with and I enjoy her classes immensely."

"The Yin Yoga practice Machelle teaches is by far my favorite class. I find the information imparted valuable and the practice has not only helped with my joint issues but also has increased my curiosity about yoga as a whole. Machelle's style of teaching also makes those new to yoga feel less self conscious as she takes the time to help people get into the poses that help them the most personally."

"After taking one of Machelle's Yin Yoga Workshops, I was hooked on her style of teaching. She has a confident but friendly presence and she cheerfully makes an effort to get to know each person in her classes. Machelle teaches in a creatively original way in how she explains yoga techniques and how she incorporates using the participants to demonstrate the concepts. Her approach is refreshing and her analogies make sense and prove to be useful! As a yoga teacher, I often find myself referring back to her teachings, especially the idea that we are all built differently and therefore, all bones are built differently which affects how we do our yoga poses"

"Studying with Machelle Lee is a transformative experience. Her depth of knowledge, compassion and clarity allow you to enter more deeply into your own body, heart and mind as you practice yoga. Machelle has the wisdom to offer grounded instruction and the grace to allow you to explore your own experiences in both asana and meditation."

"Machelle is the one yoga teacher I continue to come back to: partly because Yin Yoga, with it's slow, deep, meditative stretches, is my kind of yoga and partly because I love how she turns down the lights, puts on the music, and takes the time to connect with everyone in the room.
Machelle is kind, gentle and encouraging, and I don't want to forget to mention that she can be really funny! Since she has an in-depth understanding of anatomy, she knows how to modify poses to match everyone's unique anatomy (and avoid aggravating old injuries, too). I savor how she slows down the poses to deepen the stretch and circulates around the room giving back massages. It's clear that she has found her calling in life: when you take a class from her, you know that she loves what she does."

"Machelle's Yin Yoga class is like an oasis in the middle of the chaos we live in. Normally, I find my mind wandering or going through to do lists when I have down time, but Machelle's teaching and wisdom keep me focused on the present and open up paths to awareness I'm not sure I would have found otherwise. Her total acceptance of students' questions, different abilities, and challenges is a gift she offers to everyone who enters the studio."

"Though i am a seasoned yogi and teacher, I hadn't taken an official Yin Yoga class before. Machelle led a session for a group of body-centered psycthortapists and healers. I was delighted to attend. Machelle created such a safe space for newbies like me and participants of all different ages and abilities. Her soothing words and gentle instruction beautifully helped me to understand and then embody each particular posture and then to sink deep into my own experience of holding the posture. She balanced giving the mind what it needed in order to let go and the heart the space it needed to gently open and soften. How she weaved poetry into her class was inspirational and encouraging for me as a poet and teacher. "Taking in" the poetry when in the postures - with metaphors and universal truths - is such a beautiful way of moving us out of fight or flight and into rest and digest. Afterward, I felt like my whole body had been massaged and deeply tended to. Just as Machelle said, the next day I felt lighter, more fluid, and a deep sense of integration. Thank you, Machelle."

"Although I am a language teacher and I would never dared to teach yoga, ever since I took my first yoga class with Machelle, four years ago, I have admired the way she plans her classes and the enjoyment she bring to us with the selection of music and poems with which she accompany her yoga practice. I admire her caring for our wellbeing and her absolute respect for our limitations.
Her presence, her little notes and the diversity of teaching elements she bring to us always make me reflect on my own classes and also, on how the excellence of teaching is basically founded in the passion for a subject and the passion for transferring knowledge to others.
For many years now I have realized that none of my college students want to become teachers. My skepticism about the future of our societies is considerable, yet I erase it from my mind the when I see Machelle. Yes, she seems to tell me in her classes, the passion for teaching will never die."

Machelle is a very special person, and is very dedicated to her students. I've attended a number of her classes and workshops. A workshop I found particularly helpful was on Anatomy, and how people's individual skeletal variations affect their abilities to assume the various asanas. This workshop is a good example of Machelle's student-centric approach (and the content could very usefully be included in YTT curricula).

"Machelle is an outstanding yoga teacher. She is extremely knowledgeable about yoga, and teaches with great skill, warmth, and generosity. Her way of seamlessly integrating her knowledge of yoga with her knowledge of Chinese meridian theory, her love of poetry, mythology and imagery, and her interest in depth psychology provides the student with a very rich and nurturing experience. She is unusually sensitive to the variations in students’ anatomies and makes very helpful suggestions and adjustments, so that every person who comes to her class feels welcome, comfortable, and has a positive experience of yoga. She has a wonderful sense of humor which is another lovely avenue of connection between her and her students. In addition, she has a very genuine humility and sense of curiosity that serve both to continue her growth and also to engender deep trust among her students."

"Machelle Lee is a deeply knowledgeable and practiced instructor who leads, informs and participates during her yoga sessions. Combined with the fact that the sustained poses of her (yin) yoga practice are beneficial, the information she shares about body and spirit both inspires and soothes. I can attest to the fact that her yoga classes are extremely popular and heavily attended and always consistent in quality. I haven't met a person yet who doesn't love Machelle!." ~ Priscilla N.
"I've studied with Machelle Lee for several years and consider myself to be so fortunate to have found her. She is an incredibly gifted teacher whose every class blends the magic of offering access to universal truths with the ability to customize poses and instructions to each student's unique needs. I've practiced yoga for over 15 years and she is one of the very best of the many teachers I have known. Her classes blend scholarship, love, accessibility and practical life knowledge to help us all live up to the life we have been called to live. If you have an opportunity to study with her - do so now!"
"I've studied a variety of movement disciplines over the years and my experience in Machelle's classes seamlessly ties together principles of each. Her technically precise direction matches her loving voice. She draws my attention to my inner being and the radiance of life around me. I find myself imagining a depth-charge into this body I was given, and watching the benefits of poses. Class consistently arrives at groundedness and awe."
